SPM 2019 Form 5 : Chapter Number Base Operation and Solving Number Base via Scientific Calculator

My second part of sharing for this time on the Chapter of Number Base Form 5. We shall understand about the operation of Base 2. This operation of Number Base is only applicable for Base 2 only. The operation involve for Base 2 is  "Addition" and "Subtraction".

The Basic operation for Base 2 shall be as below:

1. Addition

• 0₂ + 0₂ = 0₂
• 0₂ + 1₂ = 1₂
• 1₂ + 0₂ = 1₂
• 1₂ + 1₂ = 10₂

2. Subtractions

•  0₂ - 0₂ = 0₂
•  1₂ - 0₂ = 1₂
• 1₂ - 1₂ = 0₂
• 10₂ - 1₂ = 1₂

Before we can proceed in solving the questions on addition and substation for Base 2 questions, I always make sure and ensure all my student to understand the basic operation first. Further to above explanation, let me show you below on how we will solve the question and to apply above basic.

1. Addition
a. 1101₂ + 110₂ = 10011₂


b.10110₂ + 10100₂ = 101010₂


2, Subtraction
a. 1011₂ - 101₂ = 110₂


b. 110100₂ - 11011₂ = 110011₂

After we completed on this part its mean that we already covered all the basic understanding of the Number Base Chapter for Form 5. Further to this, I will share with you guys how to answer the number base question using scientific calculator. This calculator method shall help you guys to answer the base question for conversion and the operation addition and subtraction.
